NIC STUDIO — A QUICK GUIDE Studio: https://curiousjames.com.au/studio Website: https://curiousjames.com.au FIRST TIME ONLY Open the private setup link sent separately by the website owner. Choose a password of at least 12 characters and confirm it. Keep the password safe. The setup link works once, so don't share it publicly. After setup, use the normal Studio address above to sign in. No ChatGPT account is needed. 1. ADD A TRIP Choose “Add a trip”. Enter its title, travel dates, duration and theme. Write a short introduction for the archive card, then the fuller trip story. Leave blank lines between paragraphs; the website formats these automatically. You can also paste day-by-day notes into the itinerary field. 2. UPLOAD PHOTOS Open Files, then choose files under “Add photos”. You can select several files together. Use JPG, PNG or WebP images, up to 20 MB each. Studio resizes photos for the website. Write a caption for each photo. The first photo becomes the trip's cover. Use Move up or Move down to choose the cover and gallery order. “Remove from trip” removes it from that trip when you save; it does not delete the stored file. 3. ADD DOCUMENTS & ITINERARIES Use “Add documents” to choose files from your phone or computer: PDFs, Word documents, Excel or PowerPoint files, TXT, Markdown or CSV files, up to 20 MB each. Give each download a clear title, such as “Trip itinerary”. These appear automatically as download cards. Their contents are not automatically extracted into the trip story. Paste any text you want displayed into the story or itinerary field. Remove private information before publishing files. 4. EDIT THE MAP STOPS Choose “Add a stop”. Enter a place name and a short note. Choose “Place pin on map”, then tap the place on the map. Zoom and pan to find the city. You can also type latitude and longitude directly, or drag an existing pin. Use Move up and Move down to put stops in travel order. The website draws the connecting line automatically. It shows the order of stops, not driving directions. Map stops are optional. 5. SAVE & PREVIEW Choose “Save draft”. Uploads and typing remain unsaved until you save. Use “Preview” to review the saved story, gallery, downloads and map in another tab. Drafts and their files are private. If you edit an already published trip, “Save changes” updates its public page. 6. PUBLISH Choose “Publish trip” and confirm. A title, short introduction, story and at least one photo are required. The trip appears in Past trips immediately, with its own page. Refresh the public archive if you already have it open. The mock example archive is replaced by real published trips as soon as the first real trip is published. LATER CHANGES Select a trip from the list, edit it, and choose “Save changes”. To hide a trip, choose “Unpublish — return to draft”. To keep it out of the main workflow, choose “Archive trip”; it stays in Studio and can be restored as a draft. Avoid editing the same trip in two browser windows. If another window saved first, reload the latest saved trip before editing again. WHEN FINISHED Choose “Sign out”, especially on a shared computer. Sessions expire after eight hours. If you forget the password, ask the website owner to issue a new one-time setup link. Never send your password by email. USING YOUR PHONE Open Studio in your phone browser. Story, Files, Map and Review shortcuts stay at the top while editing. Preview, Save and Publish stay at the bottom. Choose photos from your library and documents from Files. Keep Studio open while uploads finish, then save. For a map stop, choose Place pin on map; Studio scrolls to the map. Tap to place the pin, or use the stop selector to switch stops. Review the publishing prompt before confirming. JPG, PNG and WebP are supported; convert HEIC photos to JPG if needed.
